Metal Trades, Inc. is a highly capable heavy steel fabricator specializing in Industrial Fabrication, Barge Construction, Commercial Marine Construction and Ship Repair. We currently have multiple openings at our facility which is 20 minutes south of Charleston, SC. In business for over 50 years!

Description

Duties include but are not limited to: Advanced skill level in all outside machinist duties.  Assembles, repairs, and overhauls mechanical equipment. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units. Uses blueprints, tech manuals, and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product. Expert skill in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A large degree of creativity and latitude is required. Has the ability to troubleshoot all types of mechanical machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; to include being able to make accurate, detailed repair parts and hardware lists and condition reports.

Supervision: Minimal to no supervision from Supervisor.  Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

Education: May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to meet certain certifications in a specialized area and have at least 4 years of experience.  Note:  A Level I Outside Machinist is expected to own and maintain extensive small hand tools and sufficient precision measuring equipment making he/she self sufficient in performing daily tasks.
